2009 Dates..... All gone! Roll on the 2010 Season
The 2009 Champion is........MICHAEL HENDERSON!
We managed to sneak a run with Michael Henderson and Vince Hawtree at the Braintree Event, Click HERE to view the Video Page
Well done to Michael, Defending his title, he will get to go Pall Mall to pick his award AGAIN!
Many thanks go to Langley Park Rally School for the continued sponsorship of the the MSA National Autocross Championship. The school provides the following: Test venue, Tuition and Corporate Hospitality. Click on the link and have a look.
So what is Autocross, how do I start, what do I need? Well, follow the links and you soon could be racing towards the 2010 National Racing Title! Autocross has moved on a long way since the 60's Players Championship, with 4 at a time starts this is the only form of racing head-to-head that you can perform with a non-race licence.
Got a car you want to race? XR's, GTI's SRi's Ti's and even STI's they all race in Autocross - even GL's Check the Rules/Regulations to see which class you are eligible for. In Autocross you can run anything from a standard production car with very few modifications, Rally car, Rallycross car or even an Autocross special.
Performance Modifications range anything from Air Filters to Exhausts, Engines to Gearboxes and limited-slip differentials, Roll Cages to Mud and Snow Tyres so there is a class to suit every pocket!
The sport is closely governed by the Motorsports Association, and safety is paramount with cars being scruitineered for safety and competitors need to run with a Fire Extinguisher and wear Fire Proof Overalls and a Crash Helmet.
A BIG well done to Michael Henderson, The 2009 National Champion (GB1 Class B2) - beating his nearest rivals Petroc Frey in a Corsa (Class C no 414) and Dave Ward in a Citroen AX (Class B1 no 151).
As you see the championship is very close, Michael Henderson has it all to do AGAIN if he wants the Hatrick!
Michael's Comments on the 2008 Championship.
"It felt fantastic to win my class last season, but to gain enough points to win the overall championship was just unreal"
"Pall mall was brilliant to get to wine and dine with the best drivers from all the British championships is some feeling, (not to mention the free bar)"
"I would love to win it again but I'm in for some big competition from other drivers this year, I think, and I wish everyone good luck for the 2009 season"
A big thanks to all of the Competitors, Organisers and Marshalls who helped in the restarting of the National MSA British Autocross Championship. Well done to John White for Organising the Championship, the registered competitors felt that the first season was really well done!
